Oh man, oh man!!! I am so out of date with my blogging... I have been meaning to get this updated for a while, oooops!
So, what has been happening... Tr1#3 didn't go very well... the open water swim took me WAY too long and it was what I would have considered as a character building event. The bike went very well, it was hilly and longer then regulation, but it was faster than my bike of the same length the week before. The run was a struggle and very hot. BUT, i finished and it made me learn a lot of things about this whole sport.
Then, this past weekend was Tri#4 - this tri was awesome! The swim was so quick, quicker than in training! I was in and out of the pool before I knew it. The bike went good and my split time was better coming back than going there, which is not uncommon, but it was by a big portion (3 or 4 minutes) so that was exciting. The run was steady and slow... I need to work on my running... but it was faster than anything this season so that was good. By the time that I crossed the finish line, my time was 25 minutes faster than my best time this season... that's right people, 25 minutes!!!
So, that concludes the Tri season for me this year... I have a couple goals for next year but I want to see how the winter goes before I share them with the world. I do know that I want to do a 1/2 marathon this fall/winter, so training will start for that soon.
This summer has gone so very fast! Derek has been skydiving close to every weekend (which makes him so very happy) and I have been riding, running or biking as much as I can. I have also been playing slo-pitch with my brother and sister-in-law which has been a lot of fun. Every Thursday I have been heading out to the ball diamond to meet up with our team for our weekly embarrassment and beating. We aren't very good, but we try and have fun. Playoffs are coming soon and before you know it, ball will be over.I am not sure that I will play next year, but time will tell! :)
The next thing that we have on our docket is Ireland... we are leaving in about 30 days for the Emerald Isle and I can't wait. My stomach is doing flip flops just thinking of it. I booked a kayak tour on Killarney lakes and a nights stay in the Belleek Castle... but the things I am looking forward to the most may just be meeting Derek's family and hearing the stories that Derek's dad told him the last time he was in Ireland. I am looking forward to seeing the place where my husbands roots are still so strong and also, lets be honest, the beer... I am looking forward to tasting Guinness for the first time. I am excited to sit in a pub, drinking a pint, and listening to some traditional music. There is so much to see and do, but I know that we are going to have such an amazing adventure. The only thing that was holding me back was my passport was due to expire, but I got it in the mail this morning and now I am all ready to go! yahoo, let the adventure begin........ in 30 days.
I guess that brings you all up to date.... not much left to chat about so I will let you go with a thought of the day that my mom sent me. It resonated with both of us because we have shared an experience that proves this true! "Always believe a child when they say they are going to throw up." - sorry about that again Mom! :)
Have a wonderful day, and keep on being kind, living the life you want and not taking any crap!
